This policy covers the GeneralReader app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch (the "App"). The App is provided by Chengdu Zhongchang Technology Co., Ltd. ("we", "us").
1. Who we are
Chengdu Zhongchang Technology Co., Ltd.
Address: No. 46, Yuehe 1st Street, High-tech Zone, Chengdu, China
Email: software@generaldriver.com
2. What the App keeps on your device
GeneralReader is a local reader. It does not require an account and does not connect to a server operated by us.
The App stores the following on your device so you can keep reading:
- TXT, EPUB and PDF files you import, and their covers;
- book details such as title, author, chapters and character count;
- reading positions, progress and pagination caches;
- bookmarks, highlights and notes;
- reading settings, interface language and custom fonts.
This content stays in the App's local storage. We cannot see, access or collect it.
3. What we do not collect
The App does not collect:
- your name, email address, phone number or postal address;
- an account, password or login credential;
- device identifiers, advertising identifiers or location;
- contacts, photos, microphone, camera or health data;
- usage behaviour, crash logs or advertising interactions.
The App contains no advertising, analytics, attribution or third-party crash-reporting SDK.
4. Apple Watch sync
If you pair an Apple Watch and use the watch app, GeneralReader uses Apple's local watch sync to send favorites, reading positions, the current chapter text, and table-of-contents or in-book search requests between your iPhone and your watch.
This data moves only between your two devices. It does not pass through our servers. Sync depends on the pairing state, Bluetooth or local network availability, and whether GeneralReader is running on the iPhone.
5. Files and iCloud
You import files through the system file picker. The App accesses only the files you choose and saves a copy in its own local storage. It does not scan your iCloud Drive, photo library or other apps' data.
If you choose a file from iCloud Drive, Apple's iCloud service transfers the file. iCloud is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy.
6. Device backups
If you use iCloud Backup or a computer backup, iOS may include the App's local data in your device backup. That backup is controlled by Apple or your backup provider; we cannot access it. You can manage or delete backups in your iOS backup settings.
7. Diagnostics
The App contains no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. If you choose to share iPhone Analytics or similar system diagnostics, Apple may provide aggregated or diagnostic information to developers. Apple handles that information under its own policies; we do not use it for advertising or tracking.
8. Website visits
The App's privacy policy and support pages are hosted on our company website. When you visit those pages, the web server may record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, request time and requested page. These logs are used only to operate and secure the site and to troubleshoot problems. They are not used for advertising or profiling.
The App itself sets no advertising cookies and does not track you across apps or websites.
9. When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, the content of your message and any other information you choose to provide. We use it only to answer your question, provide support and keep a service record. After the issue is resolved, we delete or anonymize the correspondence within a reasonable period unless the law requires us to keep it.
10. Sharing and sale
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. The App contains no advertising networks, analytics companies or other third parties that receive your reading data.
11. Retention and deletion
Books, reading positions, bookmarks, notes and settings remain on your device until you:
- delete the relevant book, bookmark or note in the App; or
- delete the App.
Deleting the App removes its local data. Copies in device backups must be removed through iCloud or your computer backup tool. Because we do not keep your library or reading data, there is normally no server-side copy for us to delete.
If you have contacted us by email, you may ask us to delete that correspondence.
12. Children
The App is a general-purpose reading tool with no account, advertising, social feed or public sharing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent us personal information by email, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Your rights
If your jurisdiction gives you the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of personal information, you can contact us at the email below. Because the App does not collect your reading data, there is normally no server-side data to access or delete. For support emails you have sent us, we will handle your request in accordance with applicable law.
14. Changes to this policy
If the App's data practices change, we will update this policy and post a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the App's release notes or in an appropriate place in the App.
